Installing Solid State Sump Pump Float Switch - LevelGuard
Переглядів 3,4 тис.6 років тому
Hello, in this video we remove the backup pump (as a whole house generator had been added to this installation) then install a solid state sump pump switch to replace the manual float type which has a tendency to either fail or get stuck. Finally, we also re-do the PVC piping & install a new check valve. Link to LevelGuard Switch: www.amazon.com/LevelGuard-Z24800A1Z-Solid-State-Switch/dp/B0096H...

2008 X164 GL450 Battery and Aux Battery
Переглядів 158 тис.6 років тому
The under the seat battery likely covers both Mercedes Benz ML & GL; from 2007 to 2020. Vehicle shown is a 2008 Mercedes Benz GL450. Are the lights, wipers, rear hatch, signals going randomly and a little crazy. It's probably your battery. Hope this helps someone. I have circuit questions concerns conspiracy genres JO1X8701 4-7 PLANT 15 MADE IN U. S. A. 40258-582-01 Electric Cabinet front
You forgot to hook up the car to a 12V power source to keep the juice flowing to you on board computer - as a result you will now deal with reprogramming all your system from scratch -that might require a visit to your ($) Mercedes dealership
I noticed the positive cap still has that airhose circular plastic cover for the other hole, do we have to cover that or can we leave it open as long as there is an air hose on one side? Thanks.
Great 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍Very helpful video. Thank you so much.
You waste too much time helping to locate the battery. Do another separate video talking about battery quality
Duracell batteries in Mercedes GL450 have problems holding a charge. You will definitely have a shorter life span on that auxiliary battery
more on LLevelGuard float switch: ua-cam.com/video/Slzku0l2BfQ/v-deo.html
Could this eventually cause a no start
Very helpful… you save me money for this DIY 😊
Does a Mercedes GLS also has an auxiliary battery and where is it located
That's stupid where the battery is located
can you move the seat if the battery is dead (it wont even unlock ) so i can remove the battery and charge it (the vehicle is outside and i cant charge it there and moving is out of the question cause it locks wheels and everything
AMP HENRIES!!!!
Do you need power bank back up battery before you remove main battery thank you?
You can remove them both and replace them both as shown in the video. The AUX battery isn't very expensive whether you get the one I link in the notes or even if you get an OE MB one from the dealer.
Great video helped me out massively here in UK. Just a minor point at 09:43 you meant Amp hour not Amp henry
Thank you for the correction. Hope others see your comment so that they are not confused.
Did it work?
The 1.9L diesel found in the 2006 Jetta calls for the Liqui Molly 5-40 synthetic oil. Anything else, you run the risk of taking your cam shaft out. It’s made in Germany, just like the car!
Hi, thank you for posting this video. You explained the process very clearly. You seem to be a professional mechanic. The video does help me a lot. I have same model Mercedez. I recently found out water got in either from sunroof or the hood. The battery tray was almost full of water. The car won’t turn on, right parking light and fog light are on and flashing. Dashboard shows battery is out. I tested the main battery and it is good. Can you please tell me what the auxiliary battery for? Thank you!
I believe as the transmission shifters are electronic in these vehicles, the aux battery allows for you to shift the transmission into neutral if your main battery is totally dead. It may do other things but that is what I've heard of.
Friend asks I put a new battery ok if it has a delay when turning on a delay of 3 seconds it can be the auxiliary why the new battery is pulling well it throws 13.7 and 13.8 it must be the auxiliary answer me as soon as possible
Great video. However the link to the part no longer works
Hi what was the symptoms why did you change magnetic camshaft position sensors?
You will get a check in your light (if you read the code) it tells you to replace it.
There any chance I can see that engine
there's another aux battery in the back as well, correct? ive been having battery drain issues so i always make sure to unplug my main battery after i shut my car off, but all of a sudden my ISM isn't working and my truck is stuck in park, so I'm thinking the aux batteries have been completely drained by the drain problem, and that's causing my ISM to malfunction. going to try replacing them both today, I'll let you guys know how it goes in case anyone runs into the same issue
hi, thanks for the video. i recently purchased a 2012 GL450 and sometimes the turn signal lights doesn´t work and the rear hatch never work properly, i replaced the rear hatch hardware and doesn´t solve the problem. now looking into your video see that the battery could be the reason but when i purchased the SUV the previous owner told me that changed the main battery for a new one so this is wondering me 2 questions: how could i verify if the main and auxiliary batteries are good? and if these are good what would be the reasons of the malfunction of those parts?, thanks in advance.
I’m having trouble with my hatch lever not flipping back... I have to manually flip it back and then the buttons work to close it. I just had a new system battery put in, but not a new auxiliary battery. I also never got an error message stating the auxiliary was bad. Do you think the auxiliary battery is bad, and would that fix my hatch lever problem?
It’s hard to know for sure unless you test the aux battery. However if it is more than five years old - it’s due so replace it. Not sure about the connection to the latch as I never had a problem with that. Have you checked on the Mercedes forums? if not I would ask there if anyone has experienced the same problem.
Another video said you always disconnect and reconnect the positive connection first. He said that is very important, but you did the negative first... Why would he say that, and test you do the opposite, and it didn’t seem to matter.
It’s not as big of a deal as people think. I’ve done lots of batteries in many different ways and never had an issue. Just don’t cross the wires 👌
Thanks for this video man and link to each battery 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm currently doing it using your video thanks a lot!
That’s awesome man. Hope the video helps.
How much would I pay for labor on this? I already have the solenoid
I would recommend you call a few reputable shops in your area and ask them. Most will not charge you more than one hour labor per magnet.
I been told filter is 32 mm by another video
Yes either will work.
johnson controls + high quality shizer
Thank you so much I just bought a 2008 GL 450. I hope your is still running strong. I pray I I bought a good one and not a donut.
after this long how is the switch doing
No issues. Haven’t even thought about it. LOL
The part you used will work for Bank 1 Intake & Exhaust ????
Maybe
Thank you thank you
You sir made a super video. And I mean describing the position of the sensors and magnet. Thanks
Did u leave the driver's door open to keep system from needing reprogramming?Or connect power source to positive and negative terminals to keep system from being compromised and needing reprogramming?
I really do think that he should’ve done that I’ll be surprised if no problems comes if you do not have the system charged up when you are doing this Just my opinion
Would this work for code P0012, is it the same Bank 1 Exhaust?
Anybody know What's the socket size??
What was the spray you sprayed on the terminals at the end?
This guy obviously worked in a shop. You don’t need it. Unless you have corrosion problem.
How did the mini Duracell hold up? I really try to stick to Genuine/OE but they have both of the ones you used here in town. I saw someone on Amazon say they bought an aftermarket auxiliary battery and did not have good luck. They did not say if it was a Duracel. I actually kinda like the idea of having a Duracel in my GL hahaha. Kinda cool. I do not think the big battery is available as a Mercedes Genuine part anymore anyways. Hoping you see this comment. If anyone else used the Duracel and sees this lemme know! Thanks for the video I think I am going to try and do this myself. I even have the trim tools already haha.
Like a champ. No issues so far.
This was helpful in replacing the aux battery causing my rear breaktail light and license plate light from staying on. My tip is use good gloves when doing this if you don’t like getting cuts....btw, I took the main battery to Autozone and they tested it “good” but needing a little charge. I had a trickle charger on for a few days but could not fully charge so I think the aux battery was the problem that was draining the main battery.
I have this exact code on my S550 it rides fine however I have a smell as if it’s running hot after about 20mins of driving! Will this code make the car smell like that?
Burning oil, or burning fuel smell? The cam magnet has an o ring which does leak and if it's gone on long enough, it could reach the manifold and burn. Also could be many other things of course. Very easy to spot one of these magnets if they're leaking by a quick inspection around where they mount into the timing cover
@@RothBeyondTheGrave I sold it last week man thanks though!
Where can I find the system loader
Where can I find the loader
Actually driver side is considered left side, passenger is right side but good video
You connect the RED/Positive first. Nothing will spark with ground off. Good duck tape trick with the wrong size 14mm socket to hold nut in socket. It's 13mm nuts, and you want to make sure battery is push into front hold down. Defiantly recommend AGM batteries.............
íf the intake camshaft sensor or magnets cause an error it might be the timing chain since its directly connected to the intake camshafts. if its the exhaust camshafts the timing chain is not affected, lenghtend. the exhaust camshafts are directly connected to the intake camshafts without any chain. intake and exhaust camshafts twist in the opposite side of each other directly connected over teeth. long story short. exhaust errors are mostly caused by the magnets or sensors. worst case scenario might be a damaged or dirty camshaftregulator that doesnt go back to the 0 position anymore. try changing the magnets first as shown here, sensors second and if that doesnt solve the enginelight to turn off after a while its a mechanical problem. hope this helps you getting mislead into an expensive repair :D
Thanks for the comment.
I guess you did not show the cover removal under the engine. Do you have one?
I do - today, but did not back when I made the video. However, I cut out an area in my cover to drain without having to remove cover. I also attached a quick drain valve in place of my drain plug. Thanks for watching!
